Unable to create directory /wp-content/uploads/2009/10. Is its parent directory writable by the server?

I cannot seem to reset the file permissions on this site to allow me up upload…. sigh.  Any suggestions would be mighty helpful.

image are still not showing up correctly.

Finally fixed the path in the Settings/Miscellaneous menu of wordpress, setting it back to the default values and now it seems to work!  I followed the directions above on http://iarematt.com/wordpress-uploading-not-working-after-moving-host/

In the spirit of rebuilding this site, I have a recent painting that encompasses everything that I have been experiencing during this process of loosing content, fighting with structure and trying to simplify my relationship with the complexities, nuances and elegance of wordpress.  anyways, I hope you enjoy the view.

this is the beginning of systematically beating my head against the wall as I rebuild this site back from the ground up.  heres to fewer of these trip-ups.
